Aldo

I was in Nottingham yesterday, walking down the street when I found Aldo's! I was so excited I went in to see if they had my shoes, they did, but in red. While this is obviously not in any way as cool as the white/black of mine, it was so fun to see the shop over here, ok so only Alex and Tiff will know what i'm talking about, but hey, what does that matter...?

3 Touch

I just got this months editition of 3 touch national volleyball magazine, and i'm in it. They interviewed me about three months ago and have just published it! I am talking about volunteering in a local club, and my head coach/ mentors interview about having me there is next to it! They spelt my name right and everything. They published the interview in the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership end of year aswell, but they didn't even bother to find out my name!!!

Crazyness...

This week has been insane, I have been either in the car, at school, on a minibus, playing volleyball or training. There was a Div 1 match on Monday night which I was not playing in at Grantham against the Eagles which was great fun. We won 3-2. Tuesday night I went straight from school t Lincoln to go to a Div 2 match near Grantham against Harlaxton. This is a university made up off entirely American Students which is really cool and very spooky. We played really well and won 3-1. It was once again a closely fought contest, culminating in the whole squad singing all the way home to '80's cheesy pop - great fun! And tonight I have just got in from training. Exciting stuff though - we ordered new tracksuits so we will all match in our nice navy colours!!! Sleep now, didn't get in till about 1.30am tuesday morning and 1am wednesday morning and was out last nigt. The price I pay for playing sport. I love it though. Next Deans match is against Saracens on November 29th at home, and East Mids match is on the 26th, also at home. COME ON!!!

3-1

WE won, the first EVER Deans match and we won it! We lost the first set 25-16, won the second 25-22, won the third 25-20 and won the fourth 26-24. It was an awsome match, fought well by both squads, hard luch to Scunthorpe but I am so pleased we won. To make things just that bit better, I got voted coaches player of the match and joint third for players player of the match. I am so proud especially considering this is the first match I have played in 18 months! Here's to the next match on tuesday against Harlexton away at Grantham. Also, good luck to the Cannons against Grantham Eagles on Monday. Mahussive 6th Form part after was awesome celebration after, YAY...

DEANS!

Thursday night is the first volleyball match of the season for the Deans squad which I am part of. It' against Scunthorpe and is at home. It's the first compettitive match I have played in 18 months. Very exciting and nerve-racking. We got our kits last night which we keep for the season, I am number 3- the magic number! Well, I'll put the results up on thursday, here's hoping...

Crack

I went on a school trip to the tate modern yesterday, it was great fun. I have been like five times before, but they have a lot of new stuff since the last time I went. The crack in the turbine hall has had so much publicity that I expected it to be much larger and more impressive. It was interesting but not as good as other installations have been such as the sun, and the white boxes. I found work by Francesca Woodman though, which I was very pleassed about as she is one of my faviourite photographers. Her work isn't there for very long so I am lucky to have seen it. There were 18 prints and a short video which was really interesting. It's so sad to read her story though. It was a long day but was all in all good fun.

Bowling

Took the lincs junior volleyball squad ten pin bowling on saturday morning for 'team building' which was great fun. The head coach came back on Monday morning from a three week holiday around New York, Boston, New England in a massive RV. Sounded so much fun, very jealous.

Scotland...

is awesome, the first time I have been and I love it! We went for four days last week because I was going to a university open day in that general direction, Carlisle actually. We spent a day in Edinburgh, a day in Jedburgh (where we were staying) and went to Melrose. Have to go back and visit soon. Hopefully, fingers crossed.

Fresh Prince

I was looking through the TV guide last night, and realised that we have a channel which shows the Fresh Prince of Bel Air daily! It was my childhood evenings to watch the Simpsons then Fresh Prince on BBC 2, they started at 6pm. I still know all of the words to the theme tune which is just fab. The final episode was aired on 20 May 1996. I was probably about 10 or 11 last time I watched it which is so cool.
This is a link to the opening, watch it and see how many of the words you remember...FRESH

Commiserations...

to the England Rugby squad. Thoroughly gutted after a bravely fought match. We were down from the start and a try got disallowed. Oh well, best not to dwell on the bad points, second is better than third. Good effort.

Idiotic drivers

Last night, I was driving home from the dentist and we went to Tesco. When we were coming out of the carpark, this stupid woman came hurtling up and pulled out infront of me. I had to slam my breaks on and was severly unimpressed! Idiots should not be allowed liscences!

Lunch...

Today Suzie, Mia and Mum picked me up from school at lunch time and we went for a meal. It was really nice, we went to the garden centre (where we took Alex and Tiff for luch when they came to school) and had jacket potatoes. It was really lovely, Freya is SO smiley and good. It's been raining pretty bad though, so I got really wet feet. Ah well, I hope we do it again soon.

Stroppy customers

It seems like a lot of peoples idea of a waitress is someone who is supposed to be treated like dirt! A woman at work today had a right go at me because we didn't have the desert she wanted which is on the menu because we had run out! She was saying how disgraceful it is that they booked a table and they couldn't have the food they were expecting. If they had ordered 10 minutes earlier we had some left! She had already complained that the chef had put gravy on her yorkshire pudding. Who said that this can all be blamed on the waitress, how is it my fault what food we have, or where the chef chooses to put the gravy on the roast dinner! I hate people like this it just annoys me and there's no need for it.
On a plus side Rebert Webb (English comedian) came in for lunch and was very polite! It really isn't difficult.

Tiny dancer...

I was looking through the TV guise the other day and I saw that Almost Famous was on, so I set it to record. I had forgotten all about it until today when I was searching through the harddrive and saw that it was on there. So, I sat and watched it. It reminds me from America, when I had my SUPER lazy day when I sat and watched movies, I sat on the sofa in my PJ's watching this film. I had the song Tiny Dancer in my head for ages after. It's such an amazing song and Movie, I love it!
If you havn't seen the film, you can watch this scene HERE, Enjoy!

Tired Monday

Well, Monday is never a good day, I mean just the whole thing really, it sucks! But, Volleyball tonight was so good, I was somehow running on adreniline because my coach said it's like the best he's ever seen me play! I was played as setter and tried really hard, which worked for the most part! I'm so proud, maybe it's good to have had like no sleep then do sport?!?

Nobleism

More about this later, because I'm tired and need to sleep!

MORE

I went with two mates to see Ross Noble (an English comedian) at Grimsby Auditorium on Sunday night. He is absolutely HILARIOUS, and very interactive with the audience which I appreciate. It was so funny, he took the mick out of Grimsby so much, and we got him talking about Horncastle, because there were 6 of us from school all together. The set was an enormous inflateable version of his head, shoulders and arms behind him which was impressive. We didn't get back till late so was very tired all of yesterday, but it was well worth it. I hope to see him again.

Dark

I drove home in the dark tonight for the first time, it was really scary, and like learning to drive all over again. The lights of other cars are so annoying, especially when they don't take them off main beam!!! Oh well, home safe and sound...

Monday

What an exciting day. Well, acctually it started off really badly because it was raining really bad and it was really windy and everything was just a bit rubbish. But then I found out that Me and Jules got the track we wanted for our music video which was exciting. School was a bit rubbish, but I got home and ate, then drove to Lincoln which was exciting because I drove down the steep hill on the way in for the first time, it was really scarry but Dad said I did really well. I then parked at the college and went in to train. It was my first night training with the Lincoln Cannons adult volleyball squad so I was nervous, but it was great. I'm not as unfit as I thought and it was great fun. The cannons are a great group of people, I can't wait to go back for more training. This is gonna be every Monday and Thursday for the next year hopefully. I was so excited last night 'cos everything had gone so well. Yay!

My idea of pop stars

Its so true! Watch and you'll see!

Music is a harmonic connection between all human beings

I was watching Bend it Like Beckham the other day with Jonathan Rhys Meyers in it and I thought of the August Rush trailers I saw in America. This film looks so awesome, it is released in the UK on November 23rd, and i'm counting down the days. It stars Freddie Highmore, Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Terrance Howard and Robbin Williams. Watch the trailer then go see the film, it looks ace.
MOVIE
you gotta love music more than food, more than life, more than yourself

1 month ago today..

at this time it was my birthday, Alex and I were going to Bobs for breakfast, wow do I miss that. Today I went to work, and no pirate show this evening! Good old England???

I've heard it said...

I was having a reflective moment, and remembered what it felt like to watch this song performed in LA, and to sing it with the Young Americans. I figured that if you read this blog I probably know you, so the lyrics apply to you. I still can't get my head around the experiences i've had and how much I have grown, but this says a bit about it and the people who made it happen. Those people changed me for the better.
Click on the link, it is sound not video so doesn't take long to load.

So, thank you for being you.

Pitch

Well, I've just finished writing a pitch for a music video. It is the latest in a long line of media studies work. For our coursework we have to create a music video for an existing song, the list of songs is chosen by our teacher, so is rubbish but oh well. Jules and I have opted for the Natasha Bedingfield, Frogs and Princes option. I hate the song but we do have some pretty good ideas for the video. I don't think anyone is up against us for the track, or at least lets hope not. We have to pitch the idea in front of the class and two teachers tomorrow morning first lesson which isstupid, it's too early! Oh well, here goes for the cheesy pop record!

My head hurts!

Well, on Sunday I was putting up shelving brackets in my bedroom when I bent down to plug something in, stood up and cracked my head on the corner of one of the brackets with no shelf on! It was so painful it came up in a bump and I went dizzy. I figured it would be ok, so I took some painkillers and got on with it. The problem is it still hurts today, this is so annoying! Grr at the head, it makes me feel rubbish which is just no fun! Ah well.

Scrapbook

Well, that's it, it's finished. My scrapbook from America is done. It's so full, I have a really fat scrapbook, a scrapbook box (for things that wouldn't fit in the scrapbook) and a scrapbook box bag (for things that wouldn't fit in the scrapbook or the box). It's so fun and so full. So... if you ask me about America and it isn't to far away you will see the whole range of scrapbook things.

Work

Yay, just got back from my first shift at work since the end of July! That's like over a month ago, I really missed everyone. It's great to be back, but so much has changed. It also feels like I havenever been away though which is odd. The people havn't changed at all which is fun, and the work is about as I remember it. Everyone was glad to see me back, and wanted to know my tales of America which was cool. First sunday luch tomorrow, Yay!

Newbies

At BYJO tonight all of the new people were there. It doesn't seem like five minutes since I was the nervous new one in the corner, but now I'm one of the oldest there! They all seem really nice, but it kind of shows the people who have left even more. Ah well, things change people move on, it's usually for the better. I'm sure this one last year will be great fun.

Work!

I went to work last night for the first time since before I went to Spain (so July 28th). Mum and Dad took me for a meal, so I wasn't acctually working. It feels like I have been away forever, but also like I never left. I missed everyone I work with while I was gone, but so much there has changed it's unreal. I'm going back to work there on Saturday which is exciting, i'll get to meet the new waitresses who will probably treat me like the new one, ah well. They'll soon learn!

Changes

Last night I went to see Grandma and Grandad for the first yime since they have gone into a care home. They went while I was away, its odd to think of them not being at the farm anymore. Grandad looked better than he has done in a long time, but Grandma looks worse. It's quite upsetting really, old age is not a nice thing and I hate to see them away from home. The home that they are in is really nice though, they have a newly decorated and furnished room which is lovely, and the people are really nice. It's just strange, I haven't been to the farm yet but that is going to be very strange.

Kids

Mia and Freya spent the day at home today with Mum and Dad while I was at school, (Boo). They were in the car to pick me up from the bus stop which is always fun. They are growing up so much and so fast, Mia starts school on Wednesday and Freya changes every time I see her. Suzie and Rick came to pick them up this evening just after I got back from driving with Dad (which was great) and then Emma turned up. Twice in three days I've seen two of my sisters! Everyone has just left so now it's time to watch TV and go to sleep! School all over again tomorrow, ah well, last year so not long left!

Boston Community Showcase

In the Park in Boston (Lincs UK, not USA sadly) this afternoon I played with BYJO (Boston Youth Jazz Orchestra) at the community showcase. It was a pretty sad occasion really, the last time with this line-up. There are about ten people who are leaving to go to university in the next couple of weeks so this was their last gig. They are going off to pretty cool places and are going to be sadly missed, but here come the next generation of the 'oldest of BYJO' (now including me). This is the beginning of my third and final year there which is sad, but its an amazing thing and you can't stay there forever. If you want to go to a gig, the gig list is on the site at www.byjo.org. Here's to one last year, the fun continues now

Driving..

Well, now I'm 17 I can drive (provisionally), I'm so excited, it's so much fun! I have driven to Boston and Horncastle, Dad takes over just before we get there because the traffic is to scary just yet! It's one thing I have been wanting to do for as long as I can remember, and it seems to be going pretty well, so look out for the 'L' plates on the roads of Lincolnshire, because it might just be me behind the wheel!

Happy 18th

Today was my best mates 18th Birthday. It's pretty crazy, she is in the same school year as me and yet I am only just 17! I went round there this afternoon/evening for a while to celebrate with her which was fun in a small gathering of people. I hope she had a fun day, yay, First 18th of the year! Happy Birthday Lenny

Back to reality

Well, I have been back from my adventure to LA for almost a week now (BOO!) and life here just seems so dull. Everything is so quiet and real, it's just weird. I had almost a month of living in this amazingly energetic and colourful place with such fantastic people and I just really miss it. It was such an incredible experience, whereas this is cruel reality where I have things to worry about and important decisions to make. But, I guess if I make the right decisions then they might one day get me back to LA and I can have another adventure.

First Blog!

Well...after having a HUGE adventure this summer, I promised Tiff that I would set up a blog so that she could read whatever it is that I am getting up to. So, here goes, my very own blog! This means I have to do interesting things so that I can post about them now...shame! Enjoy, I hope it makes good reading...
